It seemed like so much fun at the time didn’t it… getting the beer belly I mean… hangin’ out with the guys… drinkin’ beer and having a few laughs; or sipping on a few cold ones while you watch TV?
And then it started to take on a presence. At first it wasn’t much… just a few more inches around the waist. But it grew and pretty soon you’re holding in you stomach as you walk around at the pool.
And then it grew some more… and some more… and now you have to buckle your pants under your belly.
You pretend you don’t care… right? But really it’s pretty embarrassing and you’ve come to hate it.
So what to do?
Well the secret is that it’s called a beer belly because it’s caused by drinking beer… not just alcohol but specifically beer!
You see there’s something in hops (the taste ingredient in beer) that distends the belly muscles and makes them sag.
So like it or not… if you really want to lose that belly you need to cut back on the beer!
Cutting back on the alcohol consumption would be good for your health but if you don’t want to do that then switch drinks… go to wine or scotch and water… or scotch and soda if you have to have some bubbles. But be aware that the carbonic acid in any carbonated drink is leaching the minerals from your bones to neutralize the acid.
And absolutely… please… don’t switch to rum and coke whatever you do!
The phosphoric acid in coke leaches the calcium from your bones and sets you up for osteoporosis and the added sugar is deadly for your waist line.
Let’s talk about waist lines in general and excess weight in particular!
The hops are the main cause of the sagging belly muscles… but there’s also a lot of fat around the belly.
Wouldn’t you just like to lose that belly forever?
It’s all that sugar and highly refined carbs in your diet that are causing you to gain weight on the belly and keep it on. You develop a carb and sugar addiction. They screw up your blood sugar/insulin cycle and prevent the body from getting the blood sugar to your muscles. It becomes fat on your belly.
So the second step to stop that happening is to kill the carb craving!
Kill the carb craving and you’ve got a chance!
